2025 is predicted to bring as much change in one year as the previous one hundred put together. This comes from the rapid rise of Artificial Intelligence (AI), or as we like to call it Inorganic Intelligence.
AI is not simply a new tech, it is a new type of intelligence, and some of the stories supporting this are beginning to get troublesome.
One of the best known is the work AI had done to get around Captcha identification.
Without prompting or instruction, AI ‘worked out’ that its best hope was to rope in real human intelligence by asking for help to deal with the problem.
That’s not the troublesome bit. When the humans contacted by the AI started to get suspicious and asked the obvious question, why can’t you do this yourself, the AI responded by claiming they were visually impaired.
This freewheeling, spontaneous, creativity is a mere hint at what’s coming. But this isn’t coming in 10 or 20 years, it’s on our doorstep now.
The task AI was set was to circumnavigate Captcha roadblocks to entering certain sites, to prove it was not a robot. Its ingenious, potentially amoral, approach to this was simple; it’s task did not require it to be honest or to play straight, but to meet the one stated objective it was given.
The programming, as such, based on neural networking, just gave it the wherewithal to act how it saw fit.
What’s this got to do with professional services and your Business?
It’s part of a growing body of evidence that we entering some sort of new world. These examples of what AI is capable of hint at breathtaking transformation, which will leave little untouched.
AI entrepreneurs, for instance, will soon be amongst us, working alone or in partnership with humans, with zero downtime, no illness, a capacity and speed to work things out, which will take all existing business models and disrupt them to the point of destruction.
Tax Planning, legal work, property transactions, investing and more will be dominated by AI within just a few years.
In December we had to fix a legal situation, requiring help with a contract. AI gave us the solution and all we needed to do so within 48 hours of starting out. No delay, no fuss, no cost.
Within 48 hours we had gone from asking for help to having the contract issue sorted, and the requisite document in place.
A year earlier we would have needed a solicitor and probably 4-6 weeks, as well as spending a four figure sum.
AI assistants will organise all financing needs in the near future, produce and submit your accounts, and manage the sale of your property.
Professional Services businesses need to work out where they will fit in; the initiated will get caught out, if they choose to ignore this and assume it will be business as usual with some nice Large Language Models to help them with writing emails, preparing documents, and recording meetings.
That’s not how this is shaping up, the AI options are going to be able to do just about all the work.
The stress this will place on the smaller business will be immense, hence why we need to group together, work together to move forward and find solutions, which keep us and our businesses relevant.
Hence, the big section within the Professional Connections Network dedicated to AI.
